Welcome to Hotel Lenhart

Hotel Lenhart, nestled in the tranquil town of Bemus Point, NY, offers guests an unforgettable experience steeped in history and charm. With a commendable rating of 4.6, this historic treasure has been serving visitors since 1880, blending the elegance of a bygone era with modern convenience. This quaint hotel is not just a place to stay; it's a destination for those seeking a unique getaway.

The ambiance of Hotel Lenhart is a major highlight. Guests have shared how breakfast is transformed into a delightful course meal, set against a backdrop that exudes a classy, historical atmosphere. With attentive wait staff dressed in period attire, diners are treated to a memorable dining experience that begins with fresh orange juice and seasonal fruit, before progressing to a selection of delectable egg dishes accompanied by hearty sides. While opinions vary on the coffee, the charm of the meal more than makes up for it.

Outside, the expansive front porch invites visitors to relax in rustic rocking chairs while enjoying a refreshing drink. This picturesque setting provides stunning views of Chautauqua Lake, making it perfect for leisurely afternoons. Tommy Karapantso, a regular patron, notes the porch as an ideal spot for family gatherings, especially on Father's Day, where watching boats glide across the water becomes part of the experience.

For those seeking relaxation and natural beauty, the hotel’s lawn is a great place to unwind. Visitors can engage in people-watching or simply appreciate the tranquil surroundings. Crystal G described the establishment as a "charming, local, and historic hotel" offering affordability without sacrificing quality, with delightful $15 food options that allow guests to savor snacks without stretching their budget.

However, staying at Hotel Lenhart is not without its quirks. The absence of air conditioning and elevators may pose a challenge for some, particularly during warm summer months. Guests may find the coolness of the rooms inviting, yet those requiring assistance should consider lower floors for easier access. Kevin B. Leigh emphasizes that these historical attributes contribute to the hotel’s unique charm, particularly the large bathtubs and the warm interactions with the owners.

Adventure seekers will find Hotel Lenhart ideally located near popular attractions such as Chautauqua Lake, Chautauqua Institution, and Midway State Park, providing a plethora of options for exploration and recreation. Whether it's boating, sightseeing, or enjoying vintage amusement rides, visitors are sure to create lasting memories.

In essence, Hotel Lenhart encapsulates a beautiful blend of history, charm, and community spirit. It’s a place where time seems to slow down, allowing guests to create nostalgic memories while enjoying modern comforts. An experience at Hotel Lenhart is not just a stay, it’s an invitation to embrace the past while savoring the present.

It's definitely an experience to go there for breakfast. They provide a historical, classy atmosphere. The food is served in courses. You have a set selection for each course, but there is some mix and matching allowed. We got OJ first, then a bowl of freshly prepared fruit. Then eggs with sides. The coffee was OK - but I'm picky about my coffee. The wait staff was dressed in historical outfits. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I'd say the breakfast was pretty standard in terms of quality. It's cash only - 15 for adults. They have an ATM in the building.

Great porch to watch the boats in the lake with lots of nice rockers and cold bar drinks. Also plenty of seating on the lawn to watch people travel up and down the sidewalks enjoying themselves. We always come up for Father's day.

This is a historic treasure, I really hope everybody who reads this stays here at least once. But be prepared that it is a historic place, which means there’s no air-conditioning no elevator but it’s loaded with a charm. the rooms are cool the bathtubs are gigantic the front porch is amazing the chairs on the lawn are relaxing and above all the atmosphere is wonderful. The owners are here talking To the customers and guests, enjoying telling the story of the historic place and even a few ghost stories. Stay here if you can avoid the corporate hotels because until you’ve stayed at a place like the Hotel Lenhart you have not experienced want an original United States hotel was like. I can almost picture myself wearing a suit with my wife in a 1920s dress sitting at the bar.

Beautiful quaint, old-timey feel. It was built in 1880, and has been in continuous operation for all 142 years! Four floors, and since there's no air conditioning (only a box fan in each room) nor elevator, some prefer the rooms on the lower floors that are cooler during the summer and don't require a climb. While we were there, some folks were starting power yard work by like 8am, which, with the little sound absorption/dampening/insulation of the hotel, was loud and woke us up to unpleasant grinding (edging) or mowing noises. Some other people in the town while we were here were boisterous late at night and a boat out on the lake was blasting really loud music keeping lots of folks up. So if that would affect you, be Mindful and maybe request a room that doesn't face the water. While the place does have power/electric in each room, the receptacles were so old they were only hot/neutral (no ground), so nothing with a ground will go in unless you have a 3 to 2 adapter. Also, the age means the receptacles are very loose, and don't hold things in them very tightly. The wallpaper in each room and hallway is BEAUTIFUL, and the accent in the ground floor public restroom has a really neat story written all across it. The staff is super friendly, and walking around anywhere is amazing, seeing the history and quaint, rural western New York feel. Definitely an awesome place, and PERFECT for a family gathering. We used to come here in the 1990s when we were kids, and now 20 some years later we're all here with the next generation, and the dad who brought us. There was even a family wearing shirts that seemed as if this was their family reunion location for years. It's a really beautiful place and experience to share with anyone you know.

Its old, dated and very historical but that won't stop me from returning. If you want to stop and take a load off on the famous rocking chairs they don't mind. The lounge are has great cocktails. Grab a drink and enjoy one of the great Chautauqua Lake sunset views from their porch and yard.

Cute spot for a drink. Charming, local and historic hotel with a great view of the water. There is a massive front porch with rocking chairs to enjoy your drink and the view of the lake. It was very relaxing and enjoyable to catch up with friends. Affordable drinks and cheap $1-5 options for food. It was nice to get an snack and a drink during these times and not break the bank.
